On his first release through 6 Plusten Records, MYMK produced a beautiful new introspective single as a response to this obscure period of time. »Runaway Harps« follows up on his LP The Amputees, released earlier this year through Portland´s avant-garde label Beacon Sound. This brand-new piece is folded into itself, sort of oriented to a conceptual threshold. Edited diligently during September to present a proper version where textures became filled with their own ghosts, the end result speaks to a liminal space between moments of cathartic anxiety and a calm and introverted state of mind.

Native of Brasilia, Bruno Sres is a sound artist recording under the moniker MYMK, in wich he dives into a repertoire of minimalism and doses of melancholia. Sres has released seven albums since 2015 through labels such as Low Kick High Punch (Berlin/Brazil), SØVN (France), Sounds et al and Beacon Sound (US). On MYMK, Sres works with collages, textures and sonic layers treated in a sensorial spectrum, being a compilation of synthesized sounds in process of desintegration or on the deconstruction of rhythms (or the complete lack of it). As a composer, Sres has grown accustomed to hearing sound as music: since his earliest memories, the things that have resonated with him have been the ones that have overwhelmed him in a sensory way. From Jeopardy (2015) to The Amputees (2021), the brazilian solo artist ‘uses sonic fragments like pieces of clay’ (Richard Allen, A Closer Listen), maintaining a close attention to textural detail.

In February 2022, NYC imprint Sounds el al is set to release MYMK´s next LP ‘Crack a Light’. The project will present the graphic work of the italian photographer Jasmine Deporta and an exclusive film by french diretor Indira Dominici for the upcoming single ‘Like All Mornings’.
